I have always wanted to try an epilator and thanks to the lovely @braun_beauty I am lucky enough to now own my own Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa! When I first opened the box I was so overwhelmed with all of the extra bits it came with. I had no idea what anything was for.
I had to wait a few days to try it out as I had not long waxed my legs but my hair grows extremely quickly so it didn’t take long until I could test it out! 🙂
The first time I tried it I really did not like it. I persisted in using it because I really wanted to be able to like using an epilator. It would save me so much time with not having to wax. Only having to pull out the small cordless device that would remove my hairs for the same amount of time as waxing would! 🙂
With the newest model of the Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa you’re able to use the epilator on wet or dry skin, which means that you can use it in the shower or bath for extra comfort as the water will soften the skin and make the hair removal process hopefully less painful.
Using it in the shower or bath would be great for those who are just starting to use an epilator an unsure about it. Keeping your hairs shorter before epilating also helps with it not being as painful. Having longer hairs does make it more painful.
I prefer to have mine a bit longer as I feel it helps remove them better. It was not as painful as I was expecting it to be. The more I use it the less painful it is.
So, how does it work?
The Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa has 40 micro-grip tweezers that rotate on the head of the hand held machine that adapts to the bodies contours so it is more comfortable to use and removes the hairs as best as it can. It claims to remove hair as short as 0.5mm. I don’t know if it’s just me but my hairs on my legs don’t get removed properly even from waxing. So I was interested to see if using the epilator would help remove them.
Sadly, it didn’t but overall I really enjoy using this Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa, compared to waxing. I have very thin, sensitive skin that when waxing it sometimes tears my skin leaving it red and sore. With the epilator, it is not pulling on the skin at all and is only removing the hair. Using an epilator would also be great to use between waxing appointments.
Since you are still removing the hair from the follicle and not just bluntly shaving the top of the hair off. So, your waxing lady will still be happy with you! 🙂
It also comes with two exfoliation brushes, a blue one for deep exfoliation to help avoid those dreaded ingrown hairs, and a purple exfoliation head for more sensitive areas and also a deep massage pad. These exfoliation brushes have been developed for the whole body, except for the face.
I lovee using the blue body exfoliation brush a day or two before I epilate to help get all the ingrown hairs out. I’m then able to get the best hair removal possible.
The Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa also comes with a facial cleansing brush as an extra with three different attachments which is great for using before epilating your face area or after removing your makeup to remove all the extra makeup that is still stuck in your pores that you thought you had already removed. You’ll be surprised how much more you remove using an electric facial cleanser.
Have you used an epilator before or do you prefer shaving/ waxing?
